Demolition Derby Rules
Chain and Bang:
The chain and bang derby class is designed to be an entry level class to promote greater interest in the sport and to give people a class to compete on a budget. Any participant who directly or indirectly causes injury to a non participant is subject to a 2 year suspension for the first offense. A permanent ban will be the result if there is a second offense. No arbitration will be offered
No welding will be allowed other than in the builders guide. Do not play possum, keep moving and hitting other cars. If your car stalls you have 2 minutes to get it moving and make a hit, failure to do so WILL get you a black flag.
THERE IS ZERO TOLERANCE FOR ALCOHOL OR DRUGS INCLUDING THE USE OF MARIJUANA BY ANY CREW MEMBER OR DRIVER PERIOD... YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY THIS MEANS DRIVER AND CREW WILL BE LEAVING NOT JUST THE PERSON CAUGHT.
DRIVERS:
All drivers and pit members WILL sign a release before entering the pit area and only those have signed will be allowed in. Any belligerent behavior at anytime may result in a lifetime suspension. Preregistration guarantees your number, cars showing up with same number will be asked to change it. Driver and crew must be the age of 18 yrs. old on race day and must provide a valid driver’s license.
JUDGE'S DECISIONS ARE FINAL! NO SNIVELING
SAFETY:
A full face helmet with chin guard "motocross style" is required. Long sleeves and pants and fully enclosed shoes are required. A minimum of a 2" neck roll or brace is required. Mouth piece strongly recommended.
A fully charged fire extinguisher is required in your pit stall, a fire extinguisher inside your car is recommended but your choice. If a fire starts in your car exit as safe as possible.
Avoid hitting the driver’s door. Any deliberate hits on the driver’s door will be grounds for disqualification. Avoid hitting cars when their flag is broke. Powering through cars to put them on the logs or barriers or roll them will be grounds for disqualification.

ELIGIBLE CARS:
Eligible Cars For Class No Pickups, Suv's, Mini Vans, Imperials or El Caminos Front Or Rear Wheel Drive Allowed. No All Wheel Drive Allowed All glass must be removed and loose glass must be cleaned out of the car.
CAR EXTERIOR:
Car exterior must be stripped of all materials such as molding, headlights, trim, tail lights, plastic inner fenders etc. that may fall off in the arena. No side mirrors.
All flammable material inside the car must be stripped, headliner, all seats, carpet, door panels etc, (Drivers seat or if a bench style seat it may stay in car).Dash is recommended to be removed, but not mandatory. If dash is removed it must have between 4 and 6 inch dash bar, between pillars, with a 4" x 4" plate on each end. Driver’s seat must be securely bolted to the floor and these bolts will not go through the frame. Must have a working seat belt. Rearview mirror allowed if securely fastened.
HOOD AND TRUNK:
Required to have two chains in the front of hood or rear of trunk (this helps the tow trucks get you out of the arena). May have up to 7 total mounting points INCLUDING THE 2 REQUIRED CHAINS. Can be welded max 3 inch each. Can be bolted with a 3in x 3in max size washer with 1/2in bolts, max 7 in length. Can use angle on hood/trunk and fender to bolt to each other no bigger than 1 and 1/2 in each with ½in bolts. Hood and trunk must have at least a 10in x 10in hole cut in for inspection.
DOORS
Drivers door must have one or two grader blades or one 8" channel iron. No more then 6" will be allowed past door seams on each end with minimum of 3/4 bolts and 4"x4" backing plates to attach, tapered ends are required to prevent getting stuck or ripping off. Driver door can be skinned with up to 1/4in thickness max. Can weld the door shit to the car fully. Must have foam padding between driver and door. Driver’s door must be painted a bright or florescent color different than the rest of the car. All other doors must be chained or safety wired. If welded due to pre ran car will be subject to tech or it will be cut and chained.
ROLL CAGE:
Rollover protection is required. No welding to the frame. Cage preference is driver/builder preference. We are not building tanks and will be subject to technical approval. Nothing outside the passenger compartment. You may build a fuel cell protector but again, bot building a tank and will be subject to tech. DO NOT USE GALVANIZED, EXAUST PIPE OR ANY SHITY PIPE FOR THIS IT WILL BE THE DIFFERNCE BETWEEN YOU WALKING OUT OF A WRECK OR BEING CARRIED OUT. THIS WILL BE CHECKED PERIOD.
ENGINE MOUNTS, BRAKES, TRANS SHIFTER AND TIRES:
Engine mounts may be welded or chained to the frame. NO added metal. Shifter can be your choice. All cars must have 4 working brakes and the ability to demonstrate they work or you will not compete. Passenger car tire only, NO forklift, skidsteer, pivot tires, or recapped tires. Load range E or 10 ply max. Tubes allowed. Valve stem protectors allowed. Stock rim style only and no reinforcing of the rims. Must be filled with air only and will be checked. No wheel flaps. Wheel pattern can be re-drilled, that is it.
BUMPERS:
You may weld the front and rear bumper brackets or shocks. Any stock style bumper may be used. No aftermarket bumpers. No folding or seam welding of bumpers. Must be wrapped with chain as stated in the hood and trunk section. Can be a 4in x 4in x 1/4 in tubing and if its welded to the car. No more than 2 6in welds on the top and 2 on the bottom near the frame rails. Bumpers must be trimmed not to exceed 6in from frame rail and must be one piece. No cutting and re-welding together. Must be able to see through tubing.
REAR END, DRIVE LINE AND SUSPENSION:
Any rear end may be used. Welded gears or spool is allowed. Any drivelines allowed. Must retain stock suspension. Suspendion can be maxed out and welded in place to stiffen it up. A arms can be welded down or up. You may replace struts with pipe if you wish. Cannot exceed maximum height for stock suspension. There’s a lot of room for creativity here. No extra bracing and will be subject to tech approval.
ENGINE AND TRANS:
NO FANCY SHIT. You can swap any engine or transmission as you feel necessary. Most of us are on a budget and if you show up with a big money engine and trans, all the drivers but vote as to whether or not you can run.
BATTERY AND EMERGENCY OFF SWITCH Battery must be relocated inside the car and will be covered. Must be securely attached to the floor no bungee cords, tie down straps, wire etc..
ALL CARS MUST HAVE A DISCONNECT SWITCH ON THE DASH PAINTED RED ACCESABLE FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE DRIVER DOOR. THIS IS FOR EMERGENCY PERSONEL THAT WILL KILL THE MOTOR AND FUEL SUSTEM NO EXCEPTIONS AND IT WILL BE CHECKED.
FUEL TANK:
OEM fuel tank can be used if it is forward of rear axle If not using stock tank in stock location forward of rear axle it must be removed and a fuel cell must be used. Boat tank is ok. Must be securely mounted, no bungee cords, tie down straps, ets.. And as close to the center of car possible behind the seat, tanks mounted next to the doors will not cut it. Max 8 gallons. All fittings must be double clamped.
RADIATOR Stock radiator in stock location if you choose to run one. You may loop the hoses together if you wish to not run a radiator. No expansion tanks. WATER ONLY no antifreeze or oil. Electric fan is okay and recommended. No other radiator modifications allowed. If you choose to not run a hood you may not run a mechanical fan period, if your hood comes off during the event and you have a mechanical fan you will be black flagged...this is for the safety of you, our crews, and the spectators.
PRE CREASEING:
Rolling fenders and hoods and folding trunks down is allowed.
Tech will be STRICT on these rules because this is a lower budget. Go out and have fun and put on a show for the crowd.
SAND BAGGING:
Sand bagging will not be allowed. If your car drives itself of the arena, then you must meet with tech and discuss what happened. If sand bagging is suspected, then your car will be tagged and wit will be recommended that your car be double and triple teamed.
All cars will have a 16"x16" number plate on the roof with their number in order to compete.
